How to delete files that are used by other programs in windows XP/Vista?






Today tip will help you to delete the files and folders that are being used by another programs and applications, for example a virus affected file. You have tried to delete such kind of files or folders and received the any following messages.
Cannot delete file: the file is in use by the other program
Cannot delete file: There has been a sharing violation
Cannot delete file: The file is in use by another program or user
Cannot delete file: Disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
Cannot delete file: The source or destination file may be in use





Normally, a windows restart will allow you to delete such files or folders that are being used by other program, but if you want to manage it without restart your computer then simply you need to download a freeware tool called Unlocker.
You can download this tool for any windows version using Unlocker link. Download it and run the easy setup.
After installation, right click on file or folder that you want to delete and select the option Unlocker





If your requested file or folder is used or locked by other application then a small window listing of lockers will appear
Here simply click on “Unlock All” button and now you can easily delete this file

How to Customize Your Browser Toolbar?


You can customize your system web browser toolbar according to your need. There are many toolbar buttons you never used. You can add some mostly used buttons for example "Paste" or "Print Preview" in your browser toolbar or remove with same option.

If you are using Internet Explorer then right click on the empty area of the toolbar and select the option "Customize". Here you will find a list of options in left and right panel, if you want to add any toolbar button then simply highlight it from the left panel and click on the "Add" button. But if you want to remove any toolbar button then first highlight it from the right panel and click on the "Remove" button

How to change the windows default identity?







In windows XP, you can change the windows default identity (Computer Manufacturer Logo and other information's) and share your own private identity there. First you right click on My Computer then click on Properties, here may be you will see computer manufacture logo or empty area. So add your own logo there to make your computer more private.

Follow the given steps to change the system default Properties identity:


First click on Start button and type notepad in Run option then press Enter.

Now type the following text in notepad.

[General]
Manufacturer="www.ComputerFreeTips.com"
Model=" Computer Free Tips and Tricks!"
[Support Information]
Line1="We offer various help topics including A to Z Computer Free Tips and Help."
Line2="Visit daily for new tips www.ComputerFreeTips.com"
There are some standard keywords, for example Manufacturer, Model, Line 1, Line 2; you can not change these keywords. Now save this notepad file in c:/windows/system32 folder with file name, OEMINFO.INI.

Now choose your favorite picture to set as logo, using any picture editor resize the picture size approx. 150X150 pixels then save it in c:/windows/system32 folder with file name OEMLOGO.BMP.

Now close the all files and restart your computer after any changes to go into effect. To verify these changes, right click on My Computer and open Properties

Under General tab, verify the system properties with new settings.
Now click on Support Information for more detail.

How to connect your home computer from Remote location?





Using the Remote Desktop feature, you can connect your home computer (host) from any other remote computer (client) and can access all computer resources (installed programs, data and any network resources). You can run any computer application on the remote computer as you were running actually sitting in front of home computer.

Follow the given steps to configure your computer to connect remote computer:

To use this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.
To perform this task, first make sure your both computers are connected to the internet.

First you have to configure the host computer that allows the users to connect it remotely. On the host computer, right click on "My computer" and click on Properties option.

Under the Remote tab, select the option "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" and click Ok button
Now get the IP address of host computer (type the "ipconfig /all" on the command prompt of host computer to find IP address).

Now make a connection on remote or client computer, click on Start button, go to All Programs> Accessories, and Communications, then click on Remote Desktop Connection, option. A Remote DesktClick on Options button for detail configuration, under the General tab, type the IP address of host computer in the Computer box and also type username and password of host computer then click on Connect button to make a connection to remote computerop Connection, dialog box will appear
If your username and password is correct then a remote desktop windows will appear

How to create your own Run Command for any specific application?






Today tip will help you to make your own Run Command (program shortcut) to run a program or a document directly. No more need to navigate the location of a program or document to run it, simply click on Start button to open Run box and type the programs shortcut name to open it directly.

Follow the given steps to disable the save settings functionality for desktop:

To use this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.


Click Start button and type regedit in Run option then press Enter for next

Now right click on App Paths and select New > Key, title the key and name it whatever you want your run command to be. In this case, we will try to create a run command for SecueCRT application.
New > Key > SecureCRT.exe

Now select the SecureCRT.exe folder and click right on (Default) string value then click Modify at the right hand side panel.



Here enter the path of the program that you want to execute in the value data field. In our case, the path of SecueCRT application will be C:\Program Files\VanDyke Software\SecureCRT \SecureCRT.exe.
Now again in right side panel, click right to create a new String value with the name SecureCRT and its values as C:\Program Files\VanDyke Software\SecureCRT\SecureCRT.exe
Now close the registry editor and restart your computer after any changes to go into effect.

How to recover corrupted PowerPoint file using TEMP folder?




Today tip will help you to recover the unreadable and corrupted file of Microsoft PowerPoint. Normally PowerPoint open files can become corrupted when you are trying to save it or if you were working on it and your PowerPoint application or windows crashed due to power failure. Windows saves a duplicate copy of working file as a temporary version. There is no need to use any third party software to manage these types of corrupted files, because you can recover them from TEMP folder.

Follow the given steps to recover the corrupted files in MS PowerPoint:

First click on Start button then click on Search option to start your search process.

Here type the *.TMP in "All or part of the file name" box then choose the "Local Hard Drives" option in "Look in" box.
Now click on Search button to start the search process of temporary files on your system local drives.
Now open the PowerPoint and try to open these temp files or double click on that file to run in PowerPoint
After some time, windows locate the list to temporary files. Here arrange the all temp files as Date modified
